Aeromexico Flights Shot At While On Runway In Culiacan, Mexico

On Jan. 5, members of the Sinaloa cartel shot at aircraft operating at the Culiacán Intl. airport (CUL) in Sinaloa, Mexico. The reason for the shootings? Retaliation after Ovidio Guzmán, son of 'El Chapo' was captured and transported to Mexico City by Mexican Army forces. Culiacán, Mazatlán (MZT), Los Mochis Intl. (LMM) are closed until further notice. Aeromexico's Embraer E190 was taxiing for departure when it was struck by a bullet, cancelling the flight due to safety concerns. A Mexican Air Force 737-8 was also shot at while landing at Culiacán.
