American Airlines Cutting Nearly 50,000 Summer Flights

As summer nears and travel begins to spool up, American Airlines is winding their schedule down. The airline has cancelled nearly 50,000 flights for the summer according to Cirium. June & July have seen the biggest cuts, with both months seeing 19,000+ flights cancelled, and AA's Chicago hub saw the biggest reduction in flights. The airline says this is, "in line with how we adjusted our schedule in 2019 prior to the pandemic. American is proud to offer customers the largest network of any U.S. airline through the summer, with, on average, more than 5,500 daily departures."
