On Jan. 3, Delta flight 1819 departed Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (CSL) bound for Minneapolis Intl. (MSP) and had landed safely prior to the taxiway excursion. The Airbus A320's nosewheel slid some 30 feet away from the pavement, getting stuck in the snow. Icy conditions were to blame, per Delta. No injuries reported among the 147 passengers on board. Passengers were bused to the terminal shortly after the incident. The airport put a ground stop in place, citing the wreck had no factor in that, as it was put in place so ground crews could retreat and clear the increased freezing rain falling.
